Oasis International School Coaching Programme for Positive Discipline

  • Throughout our journey, we have faced various challenges. One of them was implementing this new educational approach with children who had previously experienced a more traditional approach.
  • Based on this observation, we understood the importance of introducing Positive Discipline from an early age so that children can gradually develop the necessary skills as they grow.
  • The objective of the programme is to share our experience with other teachers, students, and parents in order to spread Positive Discipline on a larger scale.
  • We aim to target nurseries, kindergartens, and primary schools first, as we believe that integrating the PD approach from the early years will allow children to develop essential socio-emotional skills that are necessary to build a better and more peaceful world for the future.
About Us
Oasis International School adopted Positive Discipline (PD) as its educational approach in the 2015/2016 academic year to meet the needs of new generations. With Positive Discipline, our school also aimed to implement a discipline approach that aligns with the core elements of the IB programme: the IB Learner Profile and the Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, as we are an IB Continuum school.

Since 2018, it has been the first school in Egypt authorized to implement PD under the international "Positive Discipline Lab School" quality label, awarded by the Positive Discipline Association.

The school has collaborated with its entire community—teachers, staff, students, and parents—to ensure everyone embraces PD principles and tools in their daily practices. Throughout this journey, Oasis has worked with a team of academic researchers to annually assess and validate its practices. One of our research studies, entitled “Positive Discipline Class Meetings: Student, Parent, and Teacher Perspectives in an International Baccalaureate School in Egypt,” was published in The Journal of Individual Psychology (Volume 79, Number 2, Summer 2023).

After nine years of applying PD, we are proud of the positive impact on our school climate, our community, and the skills developed by our students. Furthermore, our students are now spreading PD by organizing the PD Empowered Youth Forum, a student-led conference designed by the students and for the students to teach PD tools to students, even those who are not in PD schools. The first edition just concluded in June 2024.
